1 Step 1

Open MBOX Converter

Start Magic Soft MBOX Converter. The left panel holds the source settings with Browse Source and Export buttons below them. Folders appear in the middle pane and messages on the right.

2 Step 2

Select the MBOX source

Under Source Mode, choose Folder tree for a folder of MBOX files, Single file for one MBOX file, or Thunderbird to read a Thunderbird profile. Choose whether to show an email count, then click Browse Source and pick the file or folder.

3 Step 3

Preview folders and emails

The tree lists folders first, then MBOX files, with message counts. Select a folder or file to load its messages, and click any message to see the sender, recipients, attachments and body.

4 Step 4

Export to the format you need

Click Export. In the Export Data window choose the format, for example Outlook PST, set the destination folder and click Start Export. The progress bar counts messages as they are written.

5 Step 5

Check the output

When the export is complete, open the destination folder to find the converted files.

Common Questions

Do I need Thunderbird or another email client installed?

No. MBOX Converter reads MBOX files directly, so no email client is needed.

Which mail programs does it accept MBOX files from?

MBOX files from Thunderbird, Apple Mail and Gmail (Google Takeout), among others. Thunderbird profiles can be loaded directly with the Thunderbird source mode.

What does the free demo convert?

The demo has every feature but converts only the first 10 emails from each MBOX file. A license removes the limit.

Which Windows versions are supported?

Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8 and 7 (32 and 64-bit).
